More about what's going to the great recycling bin in the sky. If it bombed, why keep the leftovers? If it's coated in an inch of dust, how great could it have been? IT'S TRASH!

Detailed Information

Some envelopes and pass-along forms are also going to be trashed. If it's been sitting there since 1999 or before (trust me, I know), it's going to be up for review. If you cannot give the stock a FIRM mail date for 2001, throw it away.

What's a likely candidate for the trash bin?

1. Single-window carrier envelopes in general - if you have enough for a full mailing, save it. If you have bits and pieces, trash them. With the switch to a double-window system, it will most likely NOT BE WORTH IT to try to salvage bits of old stock.

Why? If you just have bits remaining, you either have to combine them into one big mailing where response tracking will be invalid, or you'll have to create lots of individual jobs, which will all likely be hit with $500 minimum charges. Single-window carriers usually cost under $14/M - even if you throw away 20M in total, you'd only be wasting $280. Compare this with the extra per/M costs you'd potentially spend when hit with minimum charges. It's just not worth it!

In particular, ALL SINGLE-WINDOW ADDRESS ONLY carriers should be trashed unless you can give me specific examples of how they worked for your publication. I have seen FEW examples of address-carrier mailings that did well.

2. Also consider trashing old pass-alongs: are the quals outdated? were they there last year? If so, they're probably obsolete and should be trashed.

We will talk one-on-one before ANY envelope or pass-along is thrown away, no matter what.

NO cre's or bre's will be trashed!

NO double window envelopes will be trashed!
