Overages
must be included on a press run of this size to accommodate printing requirements
and prepare for possible spoilage. Order only what you plan to mail -
but remember to allow enough money to pay for overages!
Detailed
Information
Our
print jobs normally do not include noticeable overages over that which
you might add in yourself. For example, if you order 10M pieces on a Work
Order, that's exactly what you get. However, there is a small amount of
waste on every setup done at MDI. Due to the fact that we're ordering
in bulk for multiple projects, we specify an overage amount to prevent
running short on stock due to so many setups. We set the overage amount
with our printer to avoid any surprise costs.
FYI,
the industry standard for printers is 10% over or under the amount ordered.
That means if we order 100,000 pieces, the print!er can legally deliver
only 90,000 (this is an unfortunate result of the inexact science of printing).
We have agreements with all of our vendors NEVER to deliver under the
amount we order. When producing jobs of this size, Stephanie Heese and
I predetermine an exact number of overs - which covers spoilage while
eliminating any surprise costs.
DON'T
COUNT ON THE OVERAGE AS A BACKUP IN ANY WAY.
You do however, still have to pay for it! The 4% previously mentioned
should be adequate for everything ordered.
