Michael Wheeler is the executive vice president of the NTT Communications Global IP Network at NTT America, a subsidiary of NTT Communications. He is responsible for all financial, engineering, operational and customer relationship activities for the Global IP Network (GIN) business unit. Prior to his current role, he led the GIN sales and business development organization, including direct sales, account management, indirect channel sales, sales engineering, marketing, product management, and business development activities. He was part of the original startup team with Verio in 1997, where he led several different sales organizations.  He transitioned to a leadership role at NTT America following the acquisition of Verio by NTT America’s parent company, NTT Communications, in August of 2000.

He is a staunch advocate for Internet freedom as a tool for social and economic growth by fostering the growth and expansion of the Internet infrastructure industry.
