Paul Tuohy |
Paul Tuohy, author of Re-engineering RPG Legacy Applications and The Programmer's Guide to iSeries Navigator, is one of the most prominent consultants and trainer/educators for application modernization and development technologies on the IBM Midrange. He currently holds positions as CEO of ComCon, a consultancy firm based in Dublin, Ireland, and founding partner of System i Developer, the consortium of top educators who produce the acclaimed RPG & DB2 Summit conference. He also serves as a Strategic Education Team (SET) Member for COMMON. Previously, he worked as IT Manager for Kodak Ireland Ltd. and Technical Director of Precision Software Ltd. In addition to hosting and speaking at the RPG & DB2 Summit, Paul is an award-winning speaker at COMMON, COMMON Europe Congress and other conferences throughout the world. Aaron Bartell |
Aaron Bartell is a Senior Software Developer for Krengel Technology Inc. Aaron focuses much of his development in the area of creating modern applications using RPG and Java on the IBM i and Android platforms. He is the lead developer of RPG-XML Suite (www.rpg-xml.com) and the primary "pusher" of OpenRPGUI.com. He enjoys being part of the strong IBM i community through forum participation, article writing, and providing open source software on his personal website (http://MowYourLawn.com). Aaron has most recently been pursuing how he can use his abilities to benefit those in need. He started the site www.SofwareSavesLives.com as a mechanism to raise money for digging clean water wells in Africa and feeding starving children. |
Alan Seiden |
Alan Seiden has been helping companies implement PHP-based solutions on IBM i since 2005. One of the first Zend Certified Engineers for Zend Framework, Alan is a consultant and developer with Strategic Business Systems, Inc., a New Jersey-based partner of IBM and Zend. He was a charter member of IBM/COMMON’s PHP Advisory Board and served as a consultant for IBM’a manual PHP: Zend Core for i5/OS. In 2009, Alan’s work was honored with the IBM/COMMON Power Systems Innovation Award for “Best Web Application,” for Allied Beverage Group’s e-commerce site, developed on IBM i using PHP and Zend Framework. Alan is a popular speaker at conferences and meetings, including COMMON, Northeast System i User Groups, VTMUG, New York PHP, Long Island System User Group, Chicago OMNI, and ZendCon, delivering what one participant called "an upbeat message about what we can accomplish." Dennis Schmidt |
Dennis Schmidt has been in the software industry for over 30 years focusing on user interfaces and user experience architecture, design, usability testing, and design processes. He is currently a senior architect and the lead designer at Vision Solutions, Inc. where he is responsible for the user interfaces and experiences of strategic products. Dennis leads the team of designers that are responsible for the user interface strategy, architecture, visual and interaction designs, artwork, usability testing, user interface standards, and design processes. Prior to Vision Solutions, Dennis was the lead user interface designer for IBM’s midrange systems (IBM I, iSeries, and AS/400). At IBM, he led the team of designers responsible for the graphical user interfaces of the operating system. This included the designs, user interface standards, and processes. The design team worked with multiple development teams, the graphic art department, and usability testing center. Dennis has taught user interface design to various companies, regularly spoken at conferences about user interface design including internationally, and written many trade journal articles. He has also designed and developed websites for several small companies. |
